The MOCA Fundraiser DNFT 🥵🥵
(or Burning NFTs to Redeem Each Other <3, or How Burn to Redeem Works)
TLDR 📚
📣 **First of all, you’ve got to check-out The MOCA Fundraiser DNFT for yourself: https://app.manifold.xyz/c/moca-fundraiser-2023.**
On August 22nd 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨, the Museum of Crypto Art will launch this ^^^ MOCA Fundraiser DNFT as an open edition. Mint price: 0.0142069 ETH. Our interactive, first-of-its-kind mosaic NFT consists of over 700 artworks by 700 unique artists. Even cooler: The MOCA Fundraiser DNFT itself can be used as a burn-to-redeem token by any and all artists interested in further contributing to MOCA’s continuing mission. This document provides a brief overview of what’s possible when using the MOCA DNFT as a redemption token, how to make it happen, and why we’re so excited about this functionality.

How Does Burn-to-Redeem Work? ❤️🔥
By using Manifold Studio, creators can mint their own artwork using the ERC-1155 or ERC-721 standard, which can be made exclusively claimable using MOCA Fundraiser DNFTs. With “Burn to Redeem” NFTs cannot be purchased with ETH, only with specific NFTs! We encourage all submissions and participations; you do not need MOCA’s permission (it’s implied!). The process itself is very simple and only takes a couple of steps:
Select Network (Ethereum Mainnet)
Create Your Artwork (called “Redeem Token”)
Select Burn Tokens (DNFTs)
In this step you will enter the contract address for the MOCA DNFT, here:

Why Burn-to-Redeem?
At MOCA, we experiment. We are an open community full of creators across the globe. The MOCA Fundraiser DNFT itself is a mosaic designed to reflect our collective ideology at this moment in 2023, thus embodying the mission of the museum to “be an experimental playground for reawakening imagination. It will be free-form, refuse stasis, and seek inspiration and leadership from an inclusive and global community.”
So… this is not your typical fundraiser initiative. A burn-to-redeem functionality opens new possibilities for artists to make special artwork that can only claimed through DNFTs, that will invariably be intertwined with MOCA’s own history. Expect some surprises. Let’s burn 🔥
Fun Facts about the MOCA Fundraiser DNFT
Our dev team at Qwellcode designed and executed the technical side of the MOCA Fundraiser DNFT top-to-bottom. To our knowledge, this 700-artist-strong event is the largest crypto art collaboration to date 😱. It’s important to know that:
each of the over 700 artists is properly credited on-chain 😤
all individual art pieces can be explored stand-alone on any device 💃
the artwork dynamically re-arranges in randomized order every time it loads 🫨
All submitted artworks have been minted as non-transferrable NFTs (Soulbound tokens or SBTs) on Polygon into the museumofcryptoart.eth account. While artist related metadata (name, handle and address) is saved onchain, we redundantly store the media both on IPFS and on the museum’s existing nft.storage pipelines via Filecoin. Backups on backups. 👯♀️👯♀️👯♀️
You can explore the full SBT collection on Opensea, inspect the ERC 721 contract via Polygonscan and check-out the Subgraph, which organizes and delivers the data via decentralized APIs. 🤓
